This shopping district includes inside Abbiategrasso as the leader Municipality, and Robecco on the Naviglio. Symbols of the two towns are the Big Naviglio, which connects the two flourishing centers, and the Regional Park of Ticino, which borders the city of Abbiategrasso. The objective is the enhancement of local peculiarities, increasing the tourist destination, encouraging the raising of reception facilities and creating new commercial life that is the basis for the creation of new jobs.

There is the awareness that Abbiategrasso is a natural shopping center, considered as a system of coordinated shops and actors towards a common developmental policy. This center should be safeguarded and protected from large retailers and from the savage residential settlement. The upgrading of Marconi Square and of Matteotti Street, the promotion and enhancement of the events that animate the city, the strengthening of gastronomic tourism are the objectives of the action, also towards policies that will increase the hospitality culture and politics. There is an overall sensitivity and attention to the female business world and a fruitful interaction between public and private, through the intermediation of the Abbiategrasso Merchants' Association and of the local Environment.

Abbiategrasso Municipality

Logo comune AbbiategrassoAround Milan do not lie only satellite cities, soulless dormitories or small remote field villages. Just 22 km from the city, bordered by the Ticino Park and by Navigli, the horizon of the Abbiategrasso plains, constitutes an ideal destination for those who love a free-range and genuine province. Ancient Celtic urban core, Habiate until 1000, in reason of a number of factors - economic prosperity, presence of Ticino, richness in crops - is called Habiate Fat, Abbiategrasso precisely.

Celtic influences are little or nothing today, but the historical-cultural itinerary is still rich. First of all the Basilica of Santa Maria Nuova in 1365, then the Castle and the former Convent of the Annunciation, continuing towards the charming Square Marconi, where columns, decorations and historic shops alternate all around.

Robecco on the Naviglio, with around 7,000 inhabitants, since the fifteenth it was in competition with Cassinetta di Lugagnano, as a holidays place for the nobility of Milan. The quaint old village has narrow alleys and ancient houses, mainly villas. The presence of Archinto Palace is majestic and it overlooks the Grand Canal and it is also the house of the museum's dedicated to the canal.

The historical villas are also fascinating and they are hidden inside the walls; they accompany the path along the Naviglio shore. Among many it is important to remind about Gaia Villa, Gromford of Ternengo Villa, Scotti Palace, Cittadini, Dugnani, Benini Bossi Villa and Terzaghi Villa.
